A component of Welcome to the C District.

Each person carries a different city in his or her mind. Perched on a hill above downtown, the location of the final performance, performers and audience were asked to look down on the streets in which their daily routines are performed. From the position of the planner, audience members were invited into a blue screen studio to tell secrets about their most private moments in public spaces. The scenario was keyed and composited in real time and projected through the gallery window.

For the remainder of the exhibition, the gallery became rehearsal space and video studio for the performance of Welcome to the C District. Performers imagined encounters, practiced improvisation strategies for their characters and rehearsed scenes. In addition, the installation served as a studio in which to prepare video portions of the performance. Scenes were shot, keyed and composited and prepared for projection.
